Ray Piniella is the founder and President of E*Comdty Research & Advisory. With over 30 years of experience in trading, analysis, investment, and consulting, Ray brings a multidisciplinary perspective to the global commodity landscape.
As a market analyst, Mr. Piniella created the energy research platform for two of the world’s largest commodity houses, as well as for the $1.2 billion AUM commodity hedge fund he helped found.
As an investment analyst, he has contributed to M&A teams and worked in risk management, compliance, and regulatory strategy.
As a trader, Ray has managed books in energy, agriculture, and livestock, managing risk and executing across physical, futures, options, and financial markets.
As a consultant, he has advised Fortune 500 CEOs and C-suite executives, served as Global Managing Director at a leading political risk consultancy, and worked for major data, research, and analytics firms.

As a Co-Founder of Green Rock Energy Partners, he drove investments in biogas and renewables. Previously, Steven has led business development at Phibro & Glencore, focusing on refinery acquisitions, inventory management, and terminal projects. A core member of acquisition teams for PBF Energy, Tosco, and Hill Petroleum, he has assimilated over 15 refineries. Steven holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
